    ABSTRACT

    This research work was carried out to examine the impact of salary increase on the job performance of primary school teachers in Oyo East Local Government Area of Oyo State. The research methodology utilizes descriptive statistics with simple numbers and percentages of primary sources of data collected via questionnaire as well as diverse literature on the area of study. This study revealed that if teachers’ salary is enough to meet their needs, it enhance teacher productivity or services delivery and most of the teachers would have work harder if their salaries were paid regularly. In fact, the quality of education will surely improve when teachers are given all the support needed. Also, many of the teachers affirmed that they need more financial support to further their education career. The finding shows that teachers will definitely not put in their best when they are not being paid enough salary. The study revealed that prompt payment of teachers’ salaries will induce greater commitment to teaching and most of them opined that teachers’ regular promotion enhance their commitment to work.
